Apart from the game’s main protagonist, nothing in The Invisible Man is – invisible. It will allow players to enjoy the spooky surroundings, and fully immerse themselves in the unique experience delivered by this NetEnt release.
The game is designed to resemble a 1930s film, and the developers did one heck of a job. The action takes place in the main protagonist’s lab, while a mysterious soundtrack further adds to the experience.
Playing cards, designed in an Art Deco style, are at the bottom of the paytable, followed by other characters from the original film. Meet Mrs. and Mrs. Hall, Dr. Cranley, Arthur Kemp, and Flora Cranly. All premiums are designed in the same 1930s style, while three Wilds promise a turbulent ride.
No Scatter symbols, though. But to give it a fair go, I didn’t even notice their absence.
Griffin, the slot’s main character, may be invisible, but the reels aren’t. The grid has 5 reels, 3 rows, and 20 paylines. Symbols pay from left to right, and vice versa. It takes at least 3 symbols to produce a win, paying from 7.5x to 25x the bet for wins containing 5 symbols. Keep in mind that these amounts can be doubled as winning combinations can go both ways.
The slot’s volatility level is medium to high, while the RTP of 96.30% goes over the industry average. When it comes to betting options, a stake of $0.20 is needed to spin the reels, while $100 is the maximum amount to spend per spin.
The top prize of 10,000x the bet is pretty good in my opinion.
As you might expect from a 1930s movie, there is lots of action going on the screen. Packed with features, The Invisible Man is more than capable of entertaining even the pickiest of Kiwi players.
As I have already mentioned, The Invisible Man has 3 Wild symbols.
Regular Wilds appear on reels 1 and 5 in the base game, while during Free Spins, they can land on any position on the board. They replace all other symbols, offering significant help in creating additional wins.
Police Wilds enter the game on the leftmost reel, moving one place to the right on each respin.
Griffin Wilds appear solely on reel 5, moving one position to the left on each respin.
If you have read this review carefully, you know that The Invisible Man doesn’t have a Scatter symbol. So, it is reasonable to ask yourself (and ask me) how Free Spins are activated.
When a Police Wild and a Griffin Wild merge on the reels during the base game, they will trigger the feature and award 10 spins. The triggering Wilds will disappear, but more of them can land on the reels without any restrictions.
If the two merge once again, 4 more spins will be added to the tally.
Triggering Free Spins may pose a challenge, but it is gratifying since the feature delivers plenty of action. It also has 2 meters, located above the playing area, with each corresponding to the Wilds appearing during the round.
Each meter has 8 spaces, with a space filled whenever a Police or Griffin Wild moves off the grid. Filling a meter before the feature ends, starts a corresponding feature, although the remaining spins are used first.
Filling the Police Spins meter activates this feature, which includes 3 spins with 5 Wilds randomly placed across the reels. On each spin, Wilds change their position, again without any order. While the round is active, regular Wilds cannot appear before the 5 random Wilds do.
Fill the Bonus Game meter to start this thrilling round, set in 3 different locations. The goal of the game is to click on an item to reveal a prize. If a coin is picked, it will be added to the running total. The list of prizes includes multipliers of up to 10x or the round multiplier, which goes up to 4x. The latter is used at the end of the bonus game to multiply the total coin win.
The Invisible Man has so much potential. It is a beautifully-looking game with cinematic visuals that immerse players as soon as the reels start spinning.
It is enough to say it features three types of Wilds, which deliver plenty of excitement in both the base game and during Free Spins. Not to mention Walking Wilds that fill their corresponding meters and trigger new bonus games, further adding to the experience.
While the base game can be somewhat boring and result in frequent dead spins, the bonus rounds are well worth the wait. They are really exciting, easily stand out of the crowd and can deliver substantial wins. Therefore, I must admit that The Invisible Man is one of my personal favourites and I still play it from time to time.
