Your Go-To Review of Shaolin Panda

I can’t stop thinking about the possible addition to the iconic Kung Fu Panda franchise. Po has finished his role as the Dragon Warrior and passed the title to Zhen the fox. This would be a perfect opportunity for him to settle down.

I am sure he would like the fact that Shaolin Panda also eats loads of rice, noodles, and dumplings. They have so much in common. If you see a similar movie in the future, just remember that you have seen it here first!

Shaolin Panda is the Wild

Shaolin Panda is the 1×3 Wild that can appear on all reels but the first. Among high-value symbols, you will discover all the Shaolin Panda’s favourite foods – dumplings, passion fruit, noodles, rice, and watermelon.

It seems kind of silly that a spirit needs to eat so much but who am I to judge, eh? Another type of Wild that can appear is the Yin & Yang Wild. As for the dragons, they act as Scatters that trigger the Free Spins feature. Standard playing cards act as low-value icons.

How to Play Shaolin Panda

Thanks to the Chaos Reels mechanic, you will get between 3 and 6 reels on every spin. The grid constantly changes. Your task will be to find a way to land at least 3 matching symbols on successive reels, beginning from the leftmost reel. This will get you a payout.

You can bet as low as $0.10 and as high as $100 per single spin. The dumpling is the top-paying symbol, offering 5x the bet for 8-of-a-kind. The maximum possible payout is 10,000x the bet per spin. Shaolin Panda is of high variance and has an RTP of 95.71%.

Features in Shaolin Panda

I really love all the features in Shaolin Panda. They are so cute and entertaining. Each time you land a Shaolin Panda Wild, you will trigger one of 3 features: Panda Punch, Panda Wild, and Panda Multiplier. These features are triggered randomly.

As for the Free Spins feature, you need 3 dragon Scatters to get 10 free spins. Thanks to the Chaos Reels mechanics, you will have a different reel grid on every spin.

Chaos Reels

The Chaos Reels mechanic gives you between 3 and 6 reels on every spin. These reels can consist of 2-6 cells on every spin. So, you never know how the grid will look like on the following spin. This is kind of cool but can be annoying, especially when you get smaller grids on successive spins.

Panda Punch

The first of the 3 features that may be triggered when the Shaolin Panda Wild appears. Shaolin Panda Wild will add mystery symbols on the reels and expand the reel grid so that you get up to 8 reels and 8 rows at once.

All added mystery symbols will be turned into the same regular symbol. Mystery symbols cannot reveal the dumpling symbol, which pays the most. I triggered the Panda Punch feature once or twice and I usually got playing cards from mystery symbols. That did not result in generous payouts.

Panda Wild

With Panda Wild, you get the spirit of the Shaolin Panda jumping on the reels, leaving Yin & Yang Wilds in random positions. The only reel that cannot be affected by the spirit is the first reel. This feature I triggered the most. In most cases, I got 3 Wilds on the reels.

Panda Multiplier

With this feature, the spirit of the Shaolin Panda leaves a multiplier on each symbol on the randomly picked reel. The minimum multiplier is 5x, and each subsequent grows by 5x, up to a maximum of 40x.

If you are lucky, one of those symbols will form a winning combo, which will be boosted by the corresponding multiplier. My biggest multiplier was 20x and it secured me a win of around 26x.

Free Spins

You need 3 Scatters to trigger 10 free spins. During the feature, the Wild will roam the reels and help you land payouts. The Shaolin Panda will collect the landed dumplings to level up your game. Just watch the Progress Meter. The first level delivers 5 extra free spins and guarantees the Panda Punch feature.

The second level comes with 3 additional free spins and guaranteed Panda Punch and Panda Wild features. The 3rd level brings 2+ free spins and all 3 Shaolin Panda features. I reached the 2nd level and won around 120x.

Dumpling Chaos

This feature is active during free spins. It can get you reels that carry more dumplings, giving you a chance to level up more easily. Unfortunately, I never got the Dumpling Chaos feature while I tested the pokie.

Buy Feature

For a price of 200x the bet, you can buy the Free Spins feature. I bought the feature twice. My biggest win was 5x the bet and I never managed to level up my free spins.

My Recap of Shaolin Panda

I think that Octoplay took advantage of the popularity of the Kung Fu Panda franchise and also gave DreamWorks a great idea for the next sequel. Well, if we see Po marrying in the next movie, I will also take a bit of credit for that.

The familiar theme will attract an army of martial arts fans who will enjoy various features offered by the Shaolin Panda pokie. The Free Spins feature is where you can expect the biggest payouts. That’s because all other features can be triggered during free spins.

However, it will be extremely hard to reach Level 3. Well, if you want to become a true Dragon Warrior, you need to make some sacrifices, eh? I rate Shaolin Panda 8.3.
