My Review of Power of Sun: Svarog Pokie

Svarog was a very important deity in Slavic mythology. He was considered to be the creator of the sun, the sky, and the father of almost every other ancient god. Hence, we can see similarities between Zeus as well.

The Wazdan title presents Svarog as a blacksmith who looks quite scary. The reels are set on some sort of wasteland and can remind you of Nordic gods. Even the crows and ravens are flying over the sky as you spin the reels.

Svarog is Wild

This mysterious blacksmith that has supernatural powers acts as a Wild that will substitute for all regular symbols. On the reels, you will find golden coins that trigger the Hold the Jackpot Bonus Game. Red coins are Cash Infinity coins that stick on the reels.

Sticky to Infinity symbols are the Mystery Symbol and the Svarog Mystery Symbol that also stick to the reels and bring treats in the Bonus game. Strange Slavic ornaments represent high-paying icons. Playing cards forged from metal act as low-value symbols.

How to Play Power of Sun: Svarog

Even though Svarog seems like a ruthless deity, he is just and fair to all mortals who follow the rules of the game. The 2023 release is played on a 5×3 grid with 243 ways to win. To land a payout, you need matching symbols on at least 3 successive reels, beginning from the leftmost reel.

Betting starts at $0.20 and you can wager as much as $10,000 per spin. Once you set the appropriate bet, select the desired volatility of the game – high, medium, or low. Also, set the speed of the game and you are ready to go. The RTP of the pokie is 96.15% and the max payout is 5,000x.

Features in Power of Sun: Svarog

While introducing new deities, Wazdan decided to surprise us all with a couple of new features. The Cash Infinity feature and the Sticky to Infinity feature were designed to help you trigger the jackpot more easily and deliver bigger payouts.

I can only say that these 2 features really help with triggering the Hold the Jackpot Bonus game. While I tested the game, I triggered the feature at least 7 times, and 4 times with the help of the Cash Infinity feature.

Cash Infinity

Basically, when a red coin lands in the base game, it will stick on the locked cell until you trigger the Hold the Jackpot Bonus game. It carries a random value, up to 15x the bet, and can be collected only in the Bonus feature.

It really helps when you want to trigger the jackpot. However, it can give you trouble, especially if it lands on one of the first 2 reels. It will make it more difficult for you to land payouts in the base game.

Sticky to Infinity

In this feature, we get to land the Mystery and the Svarog Mystery symbols in the base game. They can land on any cell and also stick around until the end of the Jackpot Bonus. Again, these symbols can really help you boost your wins during the feature but also cause problems in the base game.

Hold the Jackpot Bonus Game

You need at least 6 bonus symbols on the reels to trigger the feature. These symbols can include gold coins, red coins, Mystery, and Svarog Mystery symbols. Once triggered, the feature gives you 3 respins. All triggering symbols are locked on the reels.

Whenever you land a new coin or one of the mystery symbols, respins reset to 3. The feature ends when you run out of respins or when you fill all cells with symbols, whichever comes first.

Apart from coins that carry prizes up to 15x the bet, you can land Minor (20x), Major (50x), and Svarog (1,000x) jackpots. Mystery symbols can transform into any other bonus symbol, except from the Svarog jackpot.

The Svarog Mystery symbol can transform into Minor, Major, Svarog, or the Collector symbol. The Collector symbol will collect all values from other coins and multiply it by up to 20x.

I was lucky to trigger the feature 7 times. My biggest win was around 280x. Usually, my wins did not go over 100x.

Buy Feature

You have several options to buy the feature and believe me when I tell you that neither one of them is worth the money. To test the feature, I bought the Double Extreme option for a price of 1,200x the bet and won around 140x.

Maybe you will have more luck than I did. Either way, I do not recommend this option.

Gamble Feature

The Gamble feature gives you a chance to boost your wins by guessing the colour of a hidden card. Here, the most important thing to remember is to quit while you are ahead. If you try to boost your winnings to the max, you will probably lose everything.

My Takeaway

I was wondering when software developers would understand the full potential of Slavic deities and use them in pokie machines. Gods from Slavic mythology are at least as good as (or even better) than the Greek and Nordic gods. Maybe that’s only my Slavic origin talking, eh?

Nonetheless, I will remain impartial when evaluating the Wazdan product. In terms of looks and sounds, Wazdan did a tremendous job. The reels run as smoothly as possible and you will enjoy playing the 2023 release.

When it comes to extra features, I really love the Sticky to Infinity and Cash Infinity features. Both helped me a lot while I tried to trigger the Jackpot Bonus. Unfortunately, I failed to pocket either the Svarog Jackpot or the Mega Jackpot. Either way, I was more than satisfied with my total winnings.

I can’t wait to see which of the gods will be in the next Power of Sun pokie, maybe Perun or even Veles. As for the Power of Sun: Svarog, I rate it 7.3.
