Jack the Winner Pokie Reviewed

The infamous Jack the Winner is such a terrible person that even the police try to avoid him on the streets. The only safe person around him is his girlfriend. Remember that, even though he is looking for companions, he can suck your balance dry. He is unpredictable, that’s in his nature.

The reels are set above the city, overlooking the rooftops. A perfect scenery for a murder, eh? The streets are empty because none of the citizens wants to test their luck with old Jack.

Jack Only Appears During Free Spins

However, you should pray to see Jack as often as possible. This bloke appears only during free spins, turning 2 reels Wild, and changing his position after each free spin. His girlfriend is the top-paying regular symbol.

Jack is well-known for his dice and his big affection for all sorts of weapons. When performing a burglary, Jack uses dynamite, while when in combat against others, he prefers guns, razors, and brass knuckles. He is very fond of diamonds and poker.

To summon him on the reels, you will need 3 Scatters. Use the Wild to form more winning combos while you wait for the Scatters to appear.

How to Play Jack the Winner

Pay attention when you start walking down the streets of Victorian London. If you don’t follow the rules, you might end your stroll sooner than you think. Jack the Winner is a 6-reel, 4-row video slot that benefits from 4,096 ways to win.

The 2022 release pays left to right, starting from the leftmost reel. 3-of-a-kind is the minimum for landing payouts. Betting starts at $0.20. You cannot wager more than $50 per single spin. Jack’s girl is the top-paying symbol, offering 30x the bet for 6-of-a-kind.

The top payout is set at 7,680x the bet per spin. Jack the Winner is a medium-to-high variance pokie machine that comes with an RTP of 96.84%.

Features in Jack the Winner

Victorian London is a synonym for action, excitement, crime, and mystery. Unfortunately, Jack the Winner does not cover all these themes. This is a crime story with not so many plots and twists. This will make action junkies a tad sad, eh?

I expected tons of action when I saw the introduction for this game. You can imagine my surprise when I found out that the Felix Gaming product offers only one additional feature.

Free Spins

To trigger the Free Spins feature, you need to land 3 Free Spins Scatters on the 1st 3 reels. Once that happens, you will get 5 free spins. Instead of playing on 6 reels, you will get 8 reels in total. Also, instead of 4,096 ways to win, you will benefit from 65,536 ways to win.

Before the feature starts, Jack will appear and cover 2 reels, turning them into Wild reels. On every free spin, Jack will move 1 position to the left or 1 position to the right. Unfortunately, the feature cannot be retriggered since Scatters do not appear during free spins.

I triggered the feature several times when I tested the game. I cannot say that I am very fond of it. It took me too long to trigger the feature for the first time, over 300 spins. The second trigger came a bit faster, to be honest. In 2 hours, I triggered free spins 4 times.

So, just 20 free spins for me, in total. The most I won in a single round was 290x. Jack usually helped me form decent winning combos. On certain occasions, he expressed his brutal nature, wanting to keep all the loot for himself.

Bottom Line: To Play or Not to Play Jack the Winner

I think that Jack the Winner might have been a huge hit, provided the good people of Felix Gaming gave the game more action. The theme is perfect, as well as the visuals and the soundtrack. A crime story that reminds you of Jack the Ripper or Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.

In my humble opinion, the 2022 release simply lacks action. Only one additional feature with only 5 free spins is just not enough, especially if you are an action junkie like me.

Even if they had introduced more free spins or the option to retrigger the feature, the game might have had more drama and excitement.

If you want to experience real action from the dark streets of London, I suggest BetSoft’s Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde. The 2015 release offers all sorts of extras, including free spins, Potion Bonus, and Frenzy Bonus. Mix potions to collect extra Wilds and instant wins.

If the Felix Gaming title had half the features that can be found in the BetSoft product, it would be an awesome pokie. Sadly, it doesn’t, so I rate Jack the Winner 7.5.
