A Player’s Review of Depths of Fortune

I am taking you back to the beginning of the 20th century when submarines were not as sophisticated as they are today. This one looks more like Nautilus from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Well, you will not meet Captain Nemo, nor will you battle against strange sea creatures.

You will join a peculiar group of adventurers looking for long-lost treasures. Probably treasure chests lost by pirates. Ensure you learn your way around multiple copper pipes and steam loads. One wrong step and you will never see land again.

Meet the Crew

I am pulling your leg, of course. It seems that a rich married couple has appointed a submarine crew to go to the bottom of the sea and discover the riches. The crew is led by an experienced captain. His first mate is there to make sure everything goes according to the plan.

With them, you will see a scientist who is always looking at his books and papers. Probably, he is trying to calculate the exact position of the treasure chests. The diver acts as a Wild that substitutes for all regular symbols. The coins are responsible for triggering the Hold & Win feature.

How to Play Depths of Fortune

If you are from the Land of the Long White Cloud, then you will need instructions about what to do in a submarine, eh? Depths of Fortune is a medium-variance pokie with 96.01% RTP and 20,000x max payout. You can bet between $0.10 and $100 per spin.

In the base game, you play on a 5×3 grid with 1,024 ways to win. The 2024 release pays left to right, beginning from the leftmost reel. To win payouts, you need matching symbols on at least 3 successive reels.

Features in Depths of Fortune

As I said earlier, this is an underwater adventure. Not as exciting as 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea but it offers a decent amount of extras that you will adore, believe me.

Cascading reels will bring you multiple payouts and different upgrades from the Loaded Reel. The Loaded Reel is also packed with upgrades and surprises. However, the essential part of the AvatarUX product is the Hold & Win feature.

Cascading Reels

Each win will remove winning symbols and add new icons on vacant cells. Cascading reels are connected with the Loaded Reel so, apart from collecting multiple payouts in a single spin, you will also enjoy various upgrades.

Cascading reels are so rewarding in Depths of Fortune. At least, that was the case with me. I got a payout on almost every other spin. Of course, not all of the wins were that generous. Nevertheless, I am more than happy with this feature.

Loaded Reel

The Loaded Reel is located on the left side of the grid and its top cell is the trigger zone. With every cascade, potential prizes will come from the bottom of the Loaded Reel. Each time you land a reward on the trigger zone, you get a prize.

Base game rewards on the Loaded Reel include the expansion of the trigger zone, grid expansion, multipliers, Wilds and Colossal Wilds, and the upgrade of low-value icons. Thanks to cascading reels, I got plenty of extras from the Loaded Reel in the base game.

My biggest base game win was 120x. With a little help from Wilds, multipliers, and symbol upgrade, I managed to get 10 successive cascades and pocket 120x.

Hold & Win

To trigger the Hold & Win feature, you need at least 5 coins on the reels. Only coins and Loaded Reel upgrades appear on the screen during the feature. Here, you get different extras from the Loaded Reel.

Apart from grid expansion and trigger zone expansion, you will benefit from coins and colossal coins, extra lives, collect, and collect and multiply. You have 3 respins. With each new coin on the grid, respins reset to 3. Each new cascade can bring you a new upgrade from the Loaded Reel.

When you fill all the cells with coins or when you use all of your respins, the feature ends. I triggered the Hold & Win feature several times and each time I landed generous payouts. My biggest win was 750x the bet.

XPress Feature

This is the option that you can use to buy the feature, for a price of 5x-500x. The price depends on the number of starting coins, how much the Loaded Reel is actually loaded, and the size of the reel grid.

Whichever option you select, you will rarely win more than you have paid for, and that is a fact. That’s why I don’t recommend using the Buy Feature option in any pokie machine.

My Takeaway

I have to be honest with you and say that I am not very fond of deep water. I only learned to swim because if I didn’t, I would have been sitting on the beach alone every day. I don’t like it when I cannot see the bottom beneath me while I swim.

However, I am prepared to make an exception with the Depths of Fortune slot. I had an amazing time in this submarine. I was so entertained that I never felt claustrophobic, which is awesome.

I love the theme, love the visuals, and love the extras in the AvatarUX title. I rate Depths of Fortune 8.0.

Pros

  • imgRewarding Loaded Reel
  • imgAttractive Cascading Reels
