Honest Book of Rampage Pokie Review

Western-themed pokies have become one of the most popular genres in recent years. Many slot enthusiasts enjoy Western films, myself included. Hence, it is not difficult to understand the love for the games, too. Spinomenal tried to mix the Wild West setting and atmosphere with the Book gameplay, producing pretty decent results.

Spinomenal opted for playing it safe, with only a few features and familiar elements, providing no shocks. Still, the atmosphere drew me in from the beginning, making me feel I was in the middle of the action. While it was not the best Western-inspired slot I ever played, Book of Rampage provided a pleasant afternoon.

Once Upon a Time in the West

Most of the game’s best elements revolved around the Free Spins round, which had plenty of assets and perks to turn the heat up. With an RTP of 96.14%, the game slightly surpasses the industry standard, indicating solid payouts at decent intervals.

I might have seen it all before, but Book of Rampage has an excellent presentation with striking visuals and a soundtrack I will not forget soon. As expected, only one special symbol exists, but it does not hinder the gameplay. What’s more, it offers some handsome payouts.

I have to point out a few flaws, starting from the lack of multipliers and bonus games. Streaks of dead spins are to be expected due to high volatility. Still, if you enjoy Western films and games like me, you will like this one, too.

The Fastest Gun Alive

The Old-West action occurs on a 5×3 grid with 10 paylines. With an RTP barely above the average, I got decent payouts, although they were never jaw-dropping. If 3 to 5 identical symbols hit the same payline, they create a win. The base game was great, but sometimes turned a bit monotonous after a while. The Free Spins round was the highlight of the game.

A buffalo grants 50x the stake for 5 on a payline, while a horse awards 20x for the same. A wolf and a snake are the other premium regular symbols, worth up to 7.50x the bet. A book is both Wild and Scatter, paying 250x for the same string.

I tried out the game with all available bets, from $0.10 to $100, and grabbed some good wins. With the maximum win of 5,000x the stake, the largest amount you can play for is $500,000. I did not manage to land it, but you might snatch the top prize.

Features in Book of Rampage

The Free Spins round is the game’s core feature, and the Bonus Buy option is a way of advancing without waiting. Multiple chances await around the corner, making up exciting rounds. I was kept on the edge of my seat for most of the time.

Free Spins

As Wilds, books replace regular symbols in winning combinations. At the same time, they activate the Free Spins round acting as Scatters. The round I unlocked had 10 free spins. Before it began, the horse had been chosen as a special symbol to expand. Whenever several of them were on the grid and participated in a win, they became Expanding Symbols, bringing hefty payouts.

If 5 Expanding Symbols hit the reels, they will expand to the whole playing area. It did not happen in my case, and I did not restart the round, either. It is possible to do it by landing 3 Scatters throughout the round.

Bonus Buy

For the impatient players, the Bonus Buy option is available. It enables you to purchase free spins for 104x the stake. I personally don’t recommend using this extra feature since it may turn out to be not that effective and cost more than it can earn you.

My Takeaway

Book of Rampage was a good game with a few nice touches that tried to be innovative by combining various elements.

It relied on the Free Spins round heavily, and for a good reason, although the base game was also OK. While not the best Western-themed game ever produced, Book of Rampage has its qualities, and I had heaps of fun.

The lack of multipliers might be the biggest drawback, aside from the largely uneventful base game. Another feature or two would have improved the gameplay immensely, offering new possibilities.

However, it still has all the ingredients of a decent Wild West slot, and I enjoyed it. Therefore, I rate Book of Rampage 7.6.
