The lost island of Atlantis is waiting for you. I know you’re excited to explore this mythical place and uncover its secrets. But be patient, we’ll take things one step at a time.
The surroundings are colourful and mesmerising, although I imagined that Atlantis would look different. Don’t get me wrong—the landscape is beautiful, but I expected to see a more advanced civilisation. There’s nothing special about the game’s soundtrack, though.
In the paytable, you’ll find 9 regular symbols. Their design is particularly appealing and gives the game a distinctive touch. The symbols are grouped into 3 types: fire, water, and plant, each with its own colour. They are further divided into low-value, medium-paying and high-value icons.
You’ll also encounter Wilds. There are no Scatters, though, at least not in a traditional sense. But more about that later.
Atlantis Crush takes place on a 5-reel, 5-row grid split into two areas. You have the main 5×3 playing area, along with two rows filled with stone blocks known as Block Symbols. There are no paylines or winning ways, with the Scatter Pays system used to deliver wins.
You’ll need at least 4 symbols of the same kind, anywhere on the reels, to form a win. Once a winning combination is created, the triggering symbols are destroyed, and new ones fall into the empty positions. Regulars pay from 3x to 16x the bet for winning combinations of 15 symbols.
In terms of volatility, you can look forward to a medium to high experience with an RTP of 96.09%, slightly exceeding the current industry average. A bet of $0.10 is enough to get the reels moving, while the maximum amount of money you can spend per spin is $100. The top payout available in Atlantis Crush is worth 10,000x the bet.
The trip to Atlantis will surely be eventful, as Relax Gaming’s title is packed with features. This provides a thrilling playing experience and, at the same time, makes sure you’ll have enough winning opportunities.
The Wild symbol you’ll encounter in Atlantis Crush is a typical one, meaning it replaces all regular symbols to help for additional wins.
Although Block Symbols aren’t exactly a feature, they are a vital part of the gameplay and require additional explanation. As I mentioned earlier, they occupy the top two rows of the grid, and they are activated by a winning symbol underneath or by another Block Symbol.
Some blocks are empty, doing nothing at all, while others can destroy symbols horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Fire, Water, and Plant Gem Blocks destroy only the corresponding symbols. The most important blocks, at least in my opinion, are Bonus and Multiplier Blocks.
The Destroy All feature is available for both paying symbols and blocks. It’s activated if all symbols or blocks are destroyed in the same cascade. For symbols, you’ll see the same ones appear in the following cascade, but it gets even better when it comes to blocks. In that case, only Multipliers, Gem Blocks, and Bonus symbols appear for the rest of the round.
Watch out for Bonus Blocks, as 3 or more unlock Free Spins. Triggering the round is relatively easy, while the number of awarded spins is determined by adding together all numbers on the Bonus Blocks. That’s not all, as triggering Free Spins can take you straight to the Super Free Spins round. In Super Free Spins, Multiplier, Bonus, and Gem Blocks are the only symbols appearing in the Blocks part of the grid.
If you can’t wait for Bonus Blocks to trigger Free Spins, you can always buy them. For 70x your bet, you get between 3 and 10 spins. That’s a bargain compared to Super Free Spins, as triggering 5 super spins costs 250x the stake.
Atlantis Crush is an excellent game that works on many levels. Yes, the stunning visuals leave an excellent first impression, but once they grab your attention, they don’t let go.
Block Symbols give the game a unique touch, especially as it feels like there are two game areas, separate yet interconnected. The Destroy All feature provided more excitement, leading to hefty wins on several occasions.
Free Spins and Super Free Spins perfectly played their part, although the latter was quite hard to trigger. There’s always the option to buy your way to the round, though it’s rather expensive. A five-figure top payout is another plus.
Kudos to the developers at Relax Gaming for delivering another masterpiece. If you want to check out some other games from this developer, I recommend Money Train 2.
