Espionage pokies are not precisely the life of the party in the iGaming industry, but this game has its assets. Some titles are extremely popular, which is not surprising, knowing that most people wanted to be secret agents at least once. James Bond, George Smiley and Mata Hari all lead exciting and attractive lives a regular person wants to taste.
Assassin Moon allowed me to do it, and it felt great. An excellent audio-visual presentation enabled me to assume the heroine’s role seamlessly. Expectedly, it was a highly volatile game, indicating rare but big payouts. The wins came, and they were decent but never mind-blowing.
The base game was good, but nothing to dwell on, while the features brought some genuinely thrilling moments. The Link&Win Bonus might not be the highest-paying aspect of the game or offer anything original, but it is the most exciting one. The Free Spins round with Jumbo Blocks and the four jackpot prizes also provide tremendous fun.
Assassin Moon gave me a Monte Carlo adventure I didn’t know I needed, combining intriguing ingredients to make up a tasty dish. A few excellent features keep the tempo high, and the atmosphere drew me in from the start. Although huge wins eluded me, my career as a secret agent was fairly successful.
However, I have a few minor complaints about the game. Despite not being too bad in any department, it also does not stand out in any way, looking a bit half-pie. Those who played enough games, like me, have already seen everything Assassin Moon has to offer. It is a guilty pleasure, though, due to the attractive heroine.
The action plays out on a standard 5×3 playing area with 25 fixed paylines. Landing 3 to 5 matching symbols on a payline left to right delivers wins. Given the place, I expected a bit more generous payouts in the base game. They were OK, but nothing to be overjoyed about.
The most lucrative premium symbol is a target, which grants 25x the stake for 5 on a payline, while 5 cars are worth 15x the bet. A martini and dice complete the premium part of the paytable, but Luna Wilds are the most lucrative. A line covered by 5 Wilds grants 500x the stake. At the same time, Wild replaces regulars in winning combinations. It can expand to cover the entire reel and complete a combo if necessary.
I tried out all stakes. You can start playing for only $0.20, while the highest bet you can place is $20. The narrow betting scope should not prevent you from playing the game, especially if money is not your primary concern. The maximum amount one can hope for is $250,000. I did not win it, but it might be your lucky day.
The game’s central feature is Link&Win, but the Free Spins round with Jumbo Blocks is also attractive. Finally, the Win Booster enhances the chances of landing Moon symbols.
In a classic Hold and Win manner, 6 Moon symbols with cash values ranging from 1.5x to 20x the stake trigger the Link&Win feature. It starts with 3 respins, and whenever a new Moon symbol lands, the respin tally resets to 3.
The round ends when no respins remain or all positions on the grid are filled, which awards the Mega Jackpot. It is worth 5,000x the stake, while other jackpots – Mini, Minor and Major – pay 50x, 150x, and 750x, respectively.
I only managed to activate the feature while the Win Booster was active. It increased my stake by 2.50x for a better chance to trigger the Link&Win feature. The maximum stake with the Win Booster active was $50, so the maximum win stood at $625,000. I still didn’t win it, but it represents a significant difference. I grabbed a solid amount at the end of the round.
A casino chip represents a Scatter symbol, and landing 3 of them on the middle reels triggers the Free Spins round. I received a payout equal to the stake and 10 free spins. Throughout the round, the middle reels combine to create 3×3 Jumbo Blocks worth 9 symbols. I didn’t manage to land Scatter inside the Jumbo Block, which would have awarded 10 more spins and the same payout.
Assassin Moon is a cheeky, crisp-looking game with fast-paced gameplay and excellent features. I had a great time as a spy, snatching some good wins, although massive payouts didn’t land. It was an eventful adventure I would not mind repeating.
Still, it is far from a perfect game and could use polishing in almost every department. I have played enough games to experience everything this game has up its sleeve and more.
I enjoyed it heaps, although it needed a few tweaks to be fantastic. So, I rate the Assassin Moon pokie 7.0 out of 10.
